The design of this hotel is informed by the City Development Plan which stipulated angled sightlines from the opposite footpath. The shape follows the sightline. Another site constraint was a Right of Way which bisected the site which necessitated the ground floor lobby stepping up via escalators to the first floor creating an interesting split level entry. The stepping form of the design allows southern rooms to have landscaped balconies.
