John is an architect with over forty years experience in private practice.
He is the principal of John Diekman Architects and works collaboratively with architects and other design professionals.
His special expertise is in the management of complex building projects, including the development of digital management tools. His skill in handling large-scale developments is reflected in the design of the Tivoli Apartments, Bent Street Apartments and M Suites Serviced Apartments.
John brings an international perspective to the practice. His project experience includes working in Britain, New Guinea, Australia, and Vietnam.
He was managing director of Indochina Consultants Pty Ltd, a multi-disciplinary company bringing together professionals in the architecture, engineering, and landscape fields. He was co-director with Ken Woolley AO in Indochina Architects Pty Ltd. Both companies offered services within Vietnam.
John has been active in both the profession and education. He has been a past Vice President and Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (SA Chapter), a past member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and Design Institute of Australia, a member of the Executive Board of the Alumni Association of the University of Adelaide and Chair of the Alumni Architectural Chapter. He has also tutored design at the University of Adelaide and the University of New South Wales.
